As a founding member of SONA Wealth Counsel, David provides fee-based and discretionary investment management for individuals, corporations and trusts throughout Central and Eastern Canada.
25 years of working with an interesting cross-section of clients has honed David’s ability to understand client goals and translate them into well-executed investment strategies. His constant emphasis on client communication ensures that those strategies are continually refined to reflect changes in client objectives, always preserving the delicate balance unique to each client between growth and preservation of assets.
Working with a relatively small client base allows David to develop personal relationships with each of his clients. Those relationships, in turn, provide him with the in-depth understanding of his clients’ needs, as well as the level of trust required to actively manage their portfolios and make thoughtful decisions in the face of today’s often overwhelming markets.
David is past Chair of the firm's Investment Review Committee and current Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee. David holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and in 2013 he was named as a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute.
Outside of the office, David has served on a number of boards for both profit and not-for-profit entities and he has been quoted in a number of leading national publications. David is considered an experienced and entertaining orator and has facilitated hundreds of presentations to a wide cross-section of audiences, for both public and private sector organizations throughout Canada. David has also served as a guest lecturer at several post-secondary institutions.
When not spending time with his wonderful wife Andria and three teenaged children, David enjoys family travel, studying different styles of music and playing the drum kit.
